YEC im Kiez

Alongside the festival concerts at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Young Euro Classic expanded into the city’s neighborhoods through the “YEC im Kiez” program. For example, it brought together the German National Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of the USA. In string and brass ensembles, they played works by Tchaikovsky, Bernstein and others in locations where classical music is rarely heard – for example at C/O Berlin and at the Klunkerkranich in Neukölln. The Orchestra of the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music also performed at the Klunkerkranich with a brass ensemble, winning the audience over, as did a band of members of the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa.

Ravi Srinivasan at KiJuNa in the Thermometersiedlung (Steglitz-Zehlendorf)

On July 27, Ravi Srinivasan was a guest at KiJuNa — the Children's, Youth, and Neighborhood Center in Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Around 50 guests of all ages attended and enthusiastically watched as the large hall at KiJuNa was first transformed into a fantasy world filled with wild horses and later into a jungle.
Ravi Srinivasan captivated the audience with fairy tales and animal stories, bringing a fascinating collection of musical instruments from around the world to life. He sang, played, and whistled, inviting the young audience to join in and participate.

Many thanks to the to the KiJuNa of Stadtteilzentrum Steglitz e.V. for this dedicated and successful collaboration.
