The University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin is one of the largest, most versatile and tradition-steeped artistic academies in the world. More than 40 degree courses offered by its four faculties Visual Arts, Design, Music and Performing Arts as well as the Central Institute for Further Education cover the entire breadth of the arts and their associated sciences. Having the right to award doctoral and habilitation degrees makes the UdK one of the few artistic academies in Germany with university status. Outstanding professors as well as the constant development of its pedagogical concepts guarantee the high level of the artistic and scientific education offered at the UdK. Almost all UdK degree courses look back on a centuries-old tradition and were united in 1975 under the roof of the Academy of the Arts (HdK). Through interdisciplinary projects, joint theoretical approaches and the strengthening of the scientific field, they enable a holistic view of the arts. Thus, the UdK offers its students the possibility to explore and experiment with other art forms and early on within a sheltered space, in order to understand and expand the borders of their own discipline.
