Vokalhelden puts children on stage! Founded by the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2013, the chorus has been a non-profit project since 2021. At locations throughout Berlin and in the all-district youth chorus, more than 400 children aged 6 to 19 rehearse every week in 15 choruses. The goal is to awaken enthusiasm for singing in all children, regardless of their background, mother tongue, handicaps or family income. Sing-along concerts for school classes and workshops bring music to classrooms and schools. In 2024, members of the youth chorus founded the pop ensemble The Vocals, which won the first prize at the Berlin Choral Meeting in 2025 and advanced to the German Choral Competition. The repertoire is open, global, multi-lingual – from world music to pop and jazz. The project builds bridges and brings together young people who want to discover the world of music. In 2023, Vokalhelden won the OPUS CLASSIC Award for Music Education. Vokalhelden e.V. is supported financially by the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Senate Department of Culture and Social Cohesion.
