2021: Federal Cross of Merit
In recognition of her “decades of service to the Capital”, Festival director Dr. Gabriele Minz received the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. As a “trademark of the Berlin summer”, Young Euro Classic acts as a worldwide advertisement for Germany as a nation of music, said the Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller, when awarding her this honour.
2017: Nomination for “Audience of the Year”
The Young Euro Classic audience was nominated for the award “Audience of the Year 2017” by an expert jury consisting of journalists and experts on the music and concert scene. The jury selected Young Euro Classic and five other institutions for the final round, from a total of 58 applicants. The new award “Audience of the Year” – presented by the concert and opera magazine “Concerti” – honours the many concert- and operagoers who participate actively and with great enthusiasm in Germany’s rich cultural life. Ever since its founding, Young Euro Classic has been especially proud of its enthusiastic, faithful audience. Even if the prize ultimately went to the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, we are proud of this nomination!
2016: Recognition from the Embassy of Israel in Berlin
Completing the year-long commemoration of the anniversary “50 Years of Diplomatic Relations Israel-Germany”, the Israeli Embassy in Berlin awarded the festival with a medal in recognition of its contributions to bilateral relations. Young Euro Classic was one of 50 projects to receive this honour.
2015: Young Euro Classic named “European Cultural Brand of the Year”
Young Euro Classic was the “European Cultural Brand 2015”. The festival of the world’s best youth orchestras was able to win the coveted title, which was awarded for the 10th time in 2015. In particular, the Young Euro Classic Peace Orchestra, in which young musicians from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Turkey and Germany played together for the first time, was honoured as the outstanding project of 2015.
2008: Nomination as “Cultural Brand of the Year”
The Young Euro Classic music festival was nominated by the expert jury in the competition to select the most successful marketing strategy in the field of cultural projects in German-speaking countries.
2008: The City of Berlin’s Order of Merit
Festival director Dr. Gabriele Minz was awarded the Order of Merit on behalf of everybody involved with Young Euro Classic. Berlin’s Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit said the festival had made a huge contribution to Berlin’s status as a cultural capital. The festival’s reputation, he added, helped to make the city even more attractive.
2007/2008: “Gold” at the “Mercury Excellence Awards” (USA)
LANXESS AG won the Gold Award in the “Sponsorship” category at the 2007/ 2008 Mercury Excellence Awards in the United States in recognition of its support for the LANXESS Young Euro Classic China Tour 2007. Further nominations included: European SABRE Awards, “Events/Sponsorship” category; IPRA Golden World Awards 2008 “Event Management” category.
2007: One of “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas“
The festival’s emphasis on integration and on the future made it one of the “365 progressive ideas from Germany” series, with the award citation highlighting the fact that: “Musical creativity and shared success provide a platform for young people from all over the world to meet and exchange experiences.”
