At the age of 10, Caonex Peguero-Camilo received his first violin lessons, at the age of 13 he became a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, and at 16 he enrolled at the Juilliard School in New York for further studies. Ever since, Peguero-Camilo has not only made a name for himself as a violinist, performing in many Central and South American countries and in the USA. He is also increasingly active as a composer and arranger. Peguero-Camilo also teaches as a professor for violin in Santiago de los Caballeros and has written a methodology of string playing entitled Violinissimo. The 55-year-old artist is also the artistic director of “Tecladíssimo”, a pioneering project in his country which is dedicated specifically to teaching pop, jazz and gospel music for all musical instruments and voice.
